I have taught orchestra for 20 years. The first two years, I taught in Lima, OH, and ever since, I've taught in the Alliance City Schools. I wanted to pursue a Master's in Educational 领导 to gain a new perspective of the education field and to open the door for more opportunities in my career.

为什么是联合山?

As a teacher in the Alliance City Schools, I am familiar with Mount Union and its outstanding reputation. Many of my former Alliance students are current UMU students and alumni, and I know several UMU staff members. In addition to my familiarity with Mount Union, the format of the Educational 领导 程序 was appealing. I felt that I would be able to handle the class schedule while teaching full time. Also, the cost of the 程序 was very reasonable.

有效的学习

The projects that I've completed in my first three classes have helped me to understand education from a different point of view and have energized me in my teaching. One of the most valuable aspects so far was the shadowing experience that I completed with my assistant principal. Not only did it begin to prepare me for a future position as a school leader, it gave me tools to better teach and interact with students now, which has been infinitely beneficial.

程序的灵活性

I would recommend the 程序 because, as long as a person is willing to work hard, it can be completed while maintaining a full time teaching position. I have learned so much already, and I am excited to see what's next in my coursework.

的职业目标

At the moment, I am honestly not sure what the next career step will be for me. I enjoy teaching orchestra very much, 但在未来, I would welcome the opportunity to impact a larger portion of a school or district community. I am looking forward to learning more about the doors that this degree will open for me.

Who was your favorite teacher growing up?

My orchestra teacher from grades 7-12, Mr. Curtis Petersen, was by far my favorite. I want to give my students the amazing experiences that he gave our orchestra. I would not be where I am today without that man!
